Who needs a Type 2 charging cable?

Whilst most public DC fast chargers have an installed cable at the station, a standalone Type 2 to Type 2 cable is needed to plug your vehicle into the more widely available ‘bring your own cable’ AC charging stations across Australia. Tesla and other manufacturers currently do not include this essential accessory for EV owners who wish to make use of the growing public charging infrastructure, cannot routinely charge at home, or undertake longer distance travel with a need for greater charging flexibility when fast chargers are occupied or out of service.
Is my EV compatible?
Type 2 (also known as Mennekes IEC 62196-2 design) is the new plug standard across Australia and our cable is universally compatible with the Type 2 port in all modern electric vehicles, including Tesla, Audi e-tron, BMW i, Mercedes-Benz EQ, MG, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Mazda and many more, and can also be used for vehicles that charge at lower currents due to a smaller on-board charger. Instead of purchasing a lower rated and only marginally lighter 16A cable, we recommend choosing a heavy duty 32A 22kW 3-Phase cable that will handle all possible charging scenarios as a primary or back-up cable, be it for your current EV, future EV, or lending the cable to a third party without any concerns about exceeding the capacity of the cable. How is the cable constructed?
Our product features a fireproof-grade rubber cable, tough and ergonomic thermoplastic handles with tightly sealing silicone dust caps, and nickel-plated copper alloy conductors. Our cable is engineered for lifetime day to day use in excess of 10,000 cycles. It has been extensively road tested and is safe for all-weather charging under Australian conditions with an IP55 water resistance rating and temperature tolerance of -30°C to +50°C.
